Piaggio Plans To Launch The First Scooter To Sport Fuel Injection: Typhoon

Piaggio made a difference in the scooter revolution in India with its 125 cc Vespa , has planned to step up its game with the 150 cc Typhoon to the Indian Market. Vespa had a great welcome into the market sales, though its prices was high when compared to other competitors. It has the iconic look and premium feel which other competitors in the game lacked in.

It is expected that the company will be bringing its next offering, the Typhoon in mid, 2013. the typhoon will be featuring a 150cc engine borrowed from Piaggio's Fly. This mod is specially for the Indian Market, whereas, Typhoon in the International market sports the same 125cc as of in the Vespa.

It is the first scooter in India to sport a MPFI Fuel Injection System. The Typhoon churns out 11.5 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 11.5 Nm of torque at 600 rpm. Fuel Efficiency figure of 32kmpl, thanks to the CVT Automatic Gearbox. A claimed topspeed of 100 kmph has been recorded. Fuel Tank is big enough to hold upto 7 litres. The front centrally placed headlamps and broad  tires makes a unique statement and very much appealing to the youngsters. It also features a 200mm disc brake at the front with Telescopic forks and a drum brake at the rear with an aluminium swing arm are worth mentioning. After all, the old-fashioned speedometer with fuel gauge feels kinda boring. But still this would definitely break news for the scooter segment in this sporty new year.

It is expected to be in a price bracket of 85,000 to 90,000 INR (ex-showroom). This is definitely gonna be a show stopper with its unique design to the country and would raise the market share for Piaggio just has how Vespa helped them in 2012.
